Chris Toews {pronounced Taves} is the founder of Heritage Philanthropy Partners. He is a resident of Atlanta, GA, and has more than 16 years experience directing humanitarian relief and development programs internationally as well as developing partnerships with non-profits domestically. He has strong expertise in international logistics, donor engagement, government relations and strategy development.

Toews has worked across countries on four continents and has managed individual programs of hundreds of staff and tens of millions of dollars in donor funds while working with global non-profits CARE and Samaritan’s Purse. After 7 years of field service with Samaritan's Purse, Toews has spent the last nine years working at headquarters for both organizations in the southeast, as both a Senior Director of Development with CARE USA in Atlanta and a Deputy Director of International Projects for Samaritan's Purse. In these roles he has been explicitly involved in partnership building with professional US-based foundations for strategic initiatives in emergency, gender, and water programming as well as overseeing substantial international disaster response capacity, including managing of preparedness, pre-positioning of relief supplies and response training strategies, and implementation of response plans in the wake of natural and man-made disasters.

From an early age, Toews lived internationally including France, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Kenya, and Uganda — attending both French and British international schools and American boarding schools. With an extensive network of both donor families and charities internationally and across North America, he is uniquely situated to match philanthropic values with high-profile, as well as lesser-known organizations, for effective and monitored results.

At his core, Toews is a family-first guy—married to his wife Jessica, who was working for a Buckhead-based firm internationally, when they met at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya (2008). Together, they’re now finding their greatest adventure to-date is raising their two sons and precious baby daughter.

“Chris is a man of character and principle, and has a keen sense for connecting people, resources, and ideas. His commitment to helping others is admirable.”
